What is socio-emotional college counseling?
Socio-Emotional College Counseling is about developing the knowledge and skills to stand grounded in the moments of discomfort and change that is young adulthood as you decide your future goals. We want to pivot traditional college counseling beyond a specific set of colleges and help young people acquire the habits, mindset, skills, and wellness to be successful wherever they go.
Why hire an outside college counselor? My child already has a counselor in school.
Traditional college counseling and consulting focuses on fitting students into stories of what is believed colleges want to see. Socio-emotional college counseling focuses on developing each individual students so that they can seek out the best institution of higher learning for them or wherever their path after high school leads them.
How is Roots and Wings College Counseling different from other private college counseling services?
Traditional college counseling focuses on colleges in the counseling process. In socio-emotional college counseling, we focus on the individual student. Socio-Emotional College Counseling is about developing the knowledge and skills to stand grounded in the moments of discomfort and change that is young adulthood. Equipped with these tools, we will help you explore college choices and your journey after high school.
Please note that because we focus on an individual student's development, we do not provide advisement on scholarships and financial aid.
What sets us apart?
We are unique because we are licensed clinical social workers but also have college counseling experience as a school counselor. We understand that college counseling does not end at admissions. Admissions is just the beginning of the journey! We work with young adults through high school and into the transition to college.

How long are sessions?
Individual therapy sessions are 50 minutes. Sessions can be in-person or online via a HIPAA-compliant platform designed to ensure privacy and security.
What is the cost of therapy?
Individual session cost is $175. I am an out-of-network provider. I can provide a monthly superbill for you to submit to your insurance for reimbursement which can help lower the cost of therapy. I am also committed to making counseling accessible for all and operate on a sliding scale. Do you accept insurance?

Is there a limit on the number of therapy sessions covered per year?
What is your cancellation policy?
If you need to cancel or reschedule, please provide at least 24 hours notice to avoid a late fee. In the event of a late cancellation (less than 24 hours) or no-show, the regular session fee will be charged. Please reach out to us for an exception if you are unable to attend due to an extenuating circumstances.
